Andy Cohen knows commercial real estate. And Andy Cohen
knows the value of heating his properties efficiently. As
a general partner of a leading commercial property investment firm
in western Massachusetts, Andy faced a dilemma…and an opportunity
when a boiler in one of his building needed replacing just over
two years ago.
“It was a big, old, dual fuel boiler. It was at the end
of its life, and was operating so inefficiently, we knew we were
wasting precious energy every time that old timer fired up.” said
Andy. Andy called Bay State Gas to explore his options. Bay
State referred him to RISE Engineering, a subcontractor to the
Bay State Gas, “Partners In Energy” program. RISE conducted
a comprehensive energy assessment of the older building that was
once a large retail store. And, Bay State Gas paid for the entire
cost of the audit.
The engineers came back with an interesting
recommendation. Install
a high-efficiency Viessmann system. “I wasn’t aware
of Viessmann before they made their recommendation, but once I
investigated the company and its products, it became clear that
the system they were proposing would propel our heating solution
into the twenty-first century.” Andy exclaimed.
The Viessmann system was installed in the
upper level of the property and incorporated three air handlers
to effectively distribute the warm air. The intelligent design allows for easy service
and Viessmann’s concept of interchangeable parts provides
the peace of mind that if any part fails, it can be sourced and
installed quickly. The result is no system down time.
What’s more, Andy’s installation qualified for a high-efficiency
rebate under the company’s “Partners in Energy” program. As
a result, Bay State Gas provided Andy a rebate for one-third the
total cost of the new system.
“We went from ‘over the hill technology’ to the
very latest technology with the Viessmann installation” said
Andy. It seems Andy couldn’t be more pleased with the product. And,
he appreciated the support from Bay State Gas including the assistance
in underwriting the installation. Andy Cohen and Bay State Gas are
truly “Partners in Energy”.
