Keeping Budgets Cool

TecoFROST™
Natural Gas Engine Driven Refrigeration

Can a natural gas engine that’s tough enough to perform reliably for 25-million operating hours, be friendly to both the environment and your budget? The people at Tecogen think so. Using non-CFC refrigerants, variable-speed operation and, of course, economical gas power, Tecogen’s TecoFROST meets these critical needs for cold-food storage, breweries and wineries, dairies, ice rinks, pharmaceutical manufacturers and more.

The TecoFROST refrigeration package is a natural gas engine-driven system designed to handle industrial refrigeration loads. Key features of the TecoFROST package are its high-efficiency variable-speed operation, heat recovery capability, sophisticated microprocessor controls, Remote Control Monitoring System, and low emissions engine. Sizes range from 75HP to 160HP with ammonia and R-22 refrigerants. The footprint is comparable to conventional electric equipment, and Tecogen offers full parts and service support.

Maximum Operating Savings

The variable-speed operation of the TecoDrive natural gas engine used on the TecoFROST optimizes energy use by closely following the load profile. This variable-speed capability provides the additional benefit of longer intervals between required maintenance on both the engine and compressor. Annual operating savings is significant and yields a rapid payback.

Proven Technology

The TecoFROST utilizes the same reliable refrigeration components – screw compressor, oil separator – as electric refrigeration systems manufactured by Vilter. The electric motor is simply replaced by a more efficient, variable-speed natural gas engine. The TecoDrive engine used on the TecoFROST has a proven track record of over 25-million operating hours in refrigeration, chilled water, and cogeneration applications.

Reliable Microprocessor Controls

The control panel on the TecoFROST features precise and efficient operating control to ensure high reliability. Extensive safeties guarantee long engine and equipment life. The panel controls, monitors and displays over 50 operating functions and conditions to facilitate diagnostics and servicing. It also features a Remote Monitoring Control System for off-site monitoring. This panel is easily integrated with industry standard networks.

Environmentally Friendly

The TecoFROST uses non-CFC refrigerants (R-717 or R-22), and has the lowest fuel input per unit of refrigeration.
